Help needed on how to use a kiln, please.?
Hi, have just bought a secondhand Horst Uhlig U5 kiln for glasswork but I have no idea how to use it.
I do stained glass so basically want to use it for firing traditional glass painting.
Would like to try glass fusing too but I have a feeling the top temperature isn’t high enough and it doesn’t have a controller which I believe you need for this?
I don’t suppose anyone out there has a set of instructions for this kiln (or a similar small tabletop kiln) which they could scan in and email to me?
Or is there anyone out there who can give me a brief introduction to how to use it. I don’t even know if you get the kiln up to temp first, then put the glass in or the other way round.
I have no clue about how long you fire glass paints for either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I’m not sure i would call a high school and ask to speak to the art teacher or something.I’m sorry i know this was not much help.
