Why is my newly glazed pottery making noises?
I'm new to the pottery wheel. I have 2 beautiful bowls that came out of the oven does several days. The funny thing is … every 15 minutes to an hour makes a sharp "type ping noise. I see no cracks or chips in the varnish. Is this normal? Why is this happening? When will it stop?
There is plenty of moisture in the air where you are? The ping could be the expansion and contraction of the ceramic piece. Ping is the varnish that is separated from the dry clay. I wouldnt worry too much about it. If it begins to crack, then worry. It will stop when the clay has been "solved" so to speak.
