The pictures of the works constructed in 1899-1901 by the gentleman from Pennsylvania scholar by the name of Henry Chapman Mercer is one of the first collections Colonial and early Federal artifacts through which the history of their community could be traced by studying its tools. This museum contains objects not only historical, but an impressive series of pictures designed Mercer illlustrating U.S. history. The Works helped the community by showing the way to be proud of its past, and of course make money because the place has many visitors. This is a National Historic Landmark today, the Moravian ceramic works tile and is operated by the county as a working history museum where tiles are reproductions of Mercer. The name of the company has no connection with the Moravian sect referred to a stove designed Mercer associated with the Moravian Church and was the inspiratipn tile design for their first.
