making pottery molds
Whitestone Can I use clay to make a mold?

I want to make casts of the hands of my niece, and then paint them and make them and fired a local "Paint your own tent" craft. I called the store and the woman who spoke said he has fired all its elements in 6. I am not familiar with kilns and who knows what kind of clay or plaster, can lead to being shot, 6. I want it to look good cast, not only to regulate its "cast" or "Paris" painted print. I need to know what materials to use. We also welcome other ideas cool! Thank you!

What it means is the cone 6 body clay, you have to do is go to your pottery shop / supplier or a community college and Buy to simmer (Cone 6) Clay clay. That white flame low or medium-throw pigeon term. This clay is vitreous around 2194 degrees Fahrenheit. Forget the plaster cast you can use a mold, but not to make a final piece. You also can ask the lady of the clay you use. You can also keep in mind it takes a plaster cast, a refusal of his hands, then press into the clay.
