Are kiln-dried cedar wood shavings okay for guinea pigs?
I have two guinea pigs, and my dad has been buying them kiln-dried cedar flakes. I thought they were kiln-dried pine, so I freaked out when they were kiln-dried cedar.
I know cedar flakes alone are toxic, but is it okay if they are kiln-dried? My guinea pigs have been using this same brand for two years and they don’t have any health problems. I told my dad to get kiln-dried pine next time, but he said the feed store doesn’t have pine, and he won’t buy CareFresh because it’s too expensive.
I’m really worried! Is it okay? thanks

Kiln-drying gets rid of all the phenols in softwoods. It should be great!
You may also want to compare the price to regular aspen, which is usually cheap and always safe.
