Wiring 220, electrician needed?
I have searched the other questions but they don’t answer this exactly, so to be safe…
I have a 60 amp breaker for a kiln, recommended wire is #6. It is 3 wire at #6 and a ground wire which I believe is #12. This was the only wire available that seemed to fit, but the outlet is a 3 wire outlet. Basic question is should I use the #6 white wire as the ground since it is larger or the #12 ground (bare) wire?

Use the standard color coding.
The cord & plug and outlet will be marked with a
NEMA code.
If it’s ’6-50`, the third terminal is a Ground, (bare #12)..
If it’s ’10-50`, the third wire is a Neutral, (White #6).
The #12 is fine for grounding purposes, and some
future worker might be confused if you use the white
as a ground.
