How can I teach my mother about telephones?
We’ve had a telephone in our house for over 10 years now. I love my mother, but if she knocks on my trailer door one more time to inform me that “the box in the hall is making that funny noise again” I’m going to throw a freaking hissy fit.
I’ve tried everything. I just can’t face another afternoon explaining where the wire goes.
When I do manage to get her connected (which requires 6 to 12 mg of valium just to keep her calm enough to hold a conversation) I wind up having to come back 15 mins later because she’s screaming “Can you hear me now Maud?” at the top of her lungs into the frickin earpiece instead of the mouthpiece.
Also, occasionally (about once a month) she knocks the phone off the receiver and then beats it to pieces with a rolling pin when the thing starts beeping. It’s costing me a fortune in new phones; our insurance refuse to cover this expense anymore.
Please help. Any suggestions at all because I am, literally, tearing my hair out.
give her a cell phone instead…that way she can come over with it while its ringing… like your humor good to see …. arent we mom’s just too much fun!!! wait its gonna get better … get her a laptop ..
