Does the word duende comes from Greek pottery type called Pyxis?
I'm studying ancient Greek civilization in social studies and chose to replicate the shape of a Pyxis for the ceramics section. I had to do research and my teacher asked if they were related to the words.
I learned this: c.1630, perhaps from Swed. pyske dialect "little fairy", but West County origin suggests ultimate source of Cornwall and thus something Celtic. Earliest references were in the path of Pixy "bewilderment," lit. "way by which one is led astray by the Pixies," Pixie and directed for "lost". http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/pixie "Pixies (also Piski and Pigsies as is sometimes known in Cornwall) are mythical creatures of folklore, considered to be particularly concentrated in the areas around Devon and Cornwall, suggesting a Celtic origin for the belief and name. "Hope http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixie This helps!
