Gas can be either, depending on flame conditions, easy to adjust..
Electric is neutral to oxidizing because of the O2 in the air.
When people want to do reduction firing for color effects they use gas, because it is difficult and hard on the coils to get reduction in an electric kiln – you do it late in the firing by adding material that will burn – paper or saw dust.
