Is stems healthy for hamsters?
I am a huge fan of collecting decorative vases with pretty flowers in them. Recently, my hamster cage broke so I decided to put the hamster in the vase with the flowers. It is a great hit and alot of my friends compliment the vase when they are at my dinner parties. Well, I don’t want the vase to appear dirty (it cost $150) so I refuse to feed the hamster food, instead he eats the stems of the flowers. Is that healthy for my pet?
I refuse to buy another cage for Pete because he chewed through the last one and this is his punishment. Any help would be appreciated.
I hate to break it to you, but that’s considered animal cruelty. A glass vase is absolutely not a suitable home for a hamster. Not only is it small and boring for the hamster, but it has very poor ventilation. You can’t ‘punish’ the hamster for something that he didn’t even realize was wrong. You need to buy a new, securer hamster cage or get him a new home. By not feeding your hamster the right food, you’re depriving him of important nutrition. In other words, you are being very cruel to your hamster. If you can’t handle taking care of one then you shouldn’t have bought your hamster in the first place.
