material best for making an incense burner?
I would like to make an incense burner with an unusual design for someone for a christmas present.
However i am not sure on what material is best to use.
I want to make one of those burners where the liquid is in the top and a candle underneath. So the whole thing would be in the shape of a house. So im guessing the material i use would have to be heat resistant.
I would also like to use a material that i preferably don’t have to put in a kiln to bake. I was thinking super sculpy bt not sure whether it is heat resistant after being baked.
Anyone have any ideas?????

Sculpey** (and other brands of polymer clay) can’t be heated over about 350 F without burning. They’re usually cured at between 230 and 275 F in a regular oven, but when heated even lower than that they’ll have a particular smell you wouldn’t want.
**SuperSculpey is the line of Polyform-Sculpey polymer clay that comes in a 1 lb box and is a translucent flesh-color… for a polymer clay that’s stronger than SuperSculpey but still comes in one color at a bulk price, check out Sculpey’s Ultralight (in a soft package)
Polymer clay can be used around light bulbs or candles though as long as the temperature reaching the clay doesn’t get too high.
You certainly would want any clay directly *over* the path of the candle’s heat, but you could just “cover” a glass votive or something with clay, then put a candle in it. Or you could put something else that’s glass or ceramic (or often metal) between the clay and the heat.
I haven’t seen the type of incense burner that uses a liquid, but you might be able to put the liquid in a glass, metal, or ceramic container which could get heated over the flame, yet keep the clay itself farther away from the flame.

You could turn a glass or ceramic or metal votive (or drinking glass or box or box bottom, etc.) into a house, I suppose, then put the liquid in a small container on the top?
