Questions about Blue Mountain Pottery?
1) How many Blue Mountain Pottery shops / factories availabl before closing? Were all its stores located in Canada only to the exclusion of their offices? 2) What type of blue clay took the mountain, to judge from the bottom of the pottery? Is it white or red (excluding glazing)?
I'm pretty sure that BMP was only done in Collingwood Ontario factory. Some of the original potters to the left and started his own company, with very similar works. The principal clay used was red which was abundant in Collingwood with a small amount of products made with white. I am fairly new collector – about 1 year, but I have about 75 pieces. Especially the abundance of green / blue enamel, since it is a personal favorite, but many other enamel colors.
